Surah al-Balad Ayat 3 with English Translation

اللہ کے نام سے شروع جو نہایت مہربان ہمیشہ رحم فرمانے والا ہے
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Ever-Merciful

وَ وَالِدٍ وَّ مَا وَلَدَ ۙ﴿۳﴾

3. (اے حبیبِ مکرّم! آپ کے) والد (آدم یا ابراہیم علیہما السلام) کی قَسم اور (ان کی) قَسم جن کی ولادت ہوئی٭o

٭ یعنی آدم علیہ السلام کی ذریّتِ صالحہ یا آپ ہی کی ذات گرامی جن کے باعث یہ شہرِ مکہ بھی لائقِ قَسم ٹھہرا ہے۔

3. By the father and that whom he begot,*

* This refers to Adam and his progeny or every begetter and every begotten, indicating all of humanity from the first to the last. This phrase can also refer to Prophets Ibrahim and Isma‘il. It may also refer to Prophet Isma‘il and his progeny up to Prophet Muhammad (blessings and peace be upon him), or Prophet Ibrahim and his progeny until the birth of Prophet Muhammad (blessings and peace be upon him) in Mecca. For that reason, this city has become worthy of Allah’s oath.

3. (O My Esteemed Beloved!) By (your) father (Adam or Ibrahim [Abraham]) and by those who are born,*

* This refers to the pious progeny of Adam or his own venerated self for whom this city of Mecca became worthy of oath.

3. Wawalidin wama walada

3. og (kjære ærede elskede ﷺ!), ved din far (Adam eller Abraham) og ved dem som ble født!*

* Profeten Adams عليه السلام rettskafne avkom, eller hans person, fordi Mekka ble verdig å sverge ved takket være ham.

3. (ऐ हबीबे मुकर्रम! आपके) वालिद (आदम या इब्राहीम अ़लैहिमा अस्सलाम) की क़सम (और उनकी) क़सम जिनकी विलादत हुई। *

* (यानी आदम अ़लैहिस्सलाम की जु़र्रिय्यते सालिहा या आप ही की ज़ाते गिरामी जिनके बाइस ये शहरे मक्का भी लाइक़े क़सम ठहरा है।)

৩. (হে আমার মহিমান্বিত হাবীব!) শপথ (আপনার) পিতা (আদম অথবা ইবরাহীম আলাইহিমাস সালাম)-এঁর এবং শপথ (তাঁদের), যারা জন্মগ্রহণ করেছেন।**

*অর্থাৎ আদম আলাইহিস সালামের সৎকর্মশীল সন্তান-সন্ততি অথবা আপনারই মহিমান্বিত সত্তা, যাঁর কারণে এ মক্কা নগরীও শপথের যোগ্য হয়েছে।
