Surah al-Kawthar with English Translation

1. بیشک ہم نے آپ کو (ہر خیر و فضیلت میں) بے انتہا کثرت بخشی ہے٭o

کوثر سے مراد حوض کوثر یا نہر جنت بھی ہے اور قرآن اور نبوت و حکمت بھی، فضائل و معجزات کی کثرت یا اصحاب و اتباع اور امت کی کثرت بھی مراد لی گئی ہے۔ رفعت ذکر اور خلق عظیم بھی مراد ہے اور دنیا و آخرت کی نعمتیں بھی، نصرت الٰہیہ اور کثرت فتوحات بھی مراد ہیں اور روز قیامت مقام محمود اور شفاعت عظمیٰ بھی مراد لی گئی ہے۔

1. (O Prophet!) Indeed, We have granted you an infinite abundance of goodness.*

* There are numerous meanings of al-Kawthar mentioned by the great scholars. According to the most popular view, it is the abundant goodness that Allah has bestowed upon His beloved Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him). According to another widespread opinion, it is a river in Paradise whose banks are of gold and its water flows over rubies and pearls. The scent of this water is finer than musk and sweeter than honey and it is whiter than milk. It also refers to the greater intercession upon the praised station gifted to the Prophet Muhammad (blessings and peace be upon him) on the Day of Judgement. It also refers to the highly esteemed status of his Prophethood. It also refers to the Prophet’s numerous miracles and exclusive virtues. It also refers to the Prophet’s unimaginable expanse in knowledge. Some commentators say that it refers to the abundance of the Prophet’s progeny. Moreover, it may also refer to the abundance of great scholars in his Umma. It may also refer to the uncountable virtues of the Qur’an and Islam. It may also refer to the abundance of his lovers, followers and community members compared to all other communities. It also refers to the abundance of his beautiful moral values and spiritual virtues of his noble conduct. It also refers to the unlimited blessings and favours of Allah Almighty bestowed upon the esteemed Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him) in this world and the Hereafter. It also refers to the everlasting remembrance of the Holy Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him) and the inseparable mentioning of his name along with the name and remembrance of Almighty Allah.

1. Indeed, We have bestowed on you an infinite abundance (every kind of superiority, bliss and bounty).*

* Al-Kawthar has various connotations: The reservoir of al-Kawthar, the stream in Paradise, the Holy Qur’an, the Prophethood and the Prophetic wisdom, limitless bounties and countless miracles, innumerable followers and a massive Umma (Community), the exalted name and divinely eminent conduct, the bounties here and Hereafter, Allah’s assistance and numerous victories, the Praiseworthy Station on the Last Day and the divine privilege of Intercession.

1. Sannelig, Vi har forært deg det uendelig rikelige (i alt det gode og enhver overlegenhet)*!

* Kauthar («det rikelige») kan også bety: «Kauthar-fontenen», «Kauthar-elven», «Koranen», «profetskapet», «visdommen» eller «rikelighet av: overlegenheter, mirakler, følgesvenner, etterlevelse, antall tilhengere (det muslimske samfunnet)». Andre meninger som er framlagt av Koranens fortolkere, er: «eleveringen av nevnelsen», «den mest fornemme sjelsstyrken», «velsignelser av både det dennesidige og det hinsidige», «Allahs bistand», «seirer i rikt monn», «den lovprisede rangen på dommedagen», eller «å bli kronet som den største forbederen og frelseren av alle».

1. बेशक हमने आपको (हर ख़ैरो फज़ीलत में) बे-इन्तिहा कसरत बख़्शी है। *

* (कौसर से मुराद होज़े कौसर या नहरे जन्नत भी है और क़ुरआन और नुबुव्वतो हिकमत भी, फज़ाइल व मो’जेज़ात की कसरत या अस्हाबो अत्बा’ और उम्मत की कसरत भी मुराद ली गई है, रिफअ़ते ज़िक्र और खु़ल्केअ़ज़ीम भी मुराद है और दुन्या व आखिरत की नेअ़मतें भी, नुसरते इलाहिय्या और कसरते फुतूहात भी मुराद हैं और रोज़े क़ियामत मक़ामे महमूद और शफाअ़ते उज़्मा भी मुराद ली गई है।)

১. নিশ্চয়ই আমরা আপনাকে সীমাহীন পর্যাপ্ততায় দান করেছি (সকল শ্রেষ্ঠত্ব, রহমত ও বরকত)।*

*কাউসার দ্বারা উদ্দেশ্য হাওযে কাউসার অথবা জান্নাতের ঝরনাধারা এবং কুরআন, নবুয়্যত ও প্রজ্ঞাও। অধিক পরিমাণে ফযিলত ও মুজিযা অথবা সাহাবী, অনুসারী ও উম্মতের আধিক্যকেও উদ্দেশ্য নেয়া হয়েছে। তাঁর (সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়া আলিহি ওয়া সাল্লাম) যিকির বা আলোচনাকে সমুন্নত করে দেওয়া, তাঁর (সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়া আলিহি ওয়া সাল্লাম) সর্বোৎকৃষ্ট চারিত্রিক বৈশিষ্ট্যের অধিকারী হওয়া এবং দুনিয়া আখেরাতের নিয়ামতরাজিও। আল্লাহ্‌ তা’আলার সাহায্য এবং অধিক সংখ্যক বিজয়ও উদ্দেশ্য। আর কিয়ামত দিবসে মাকামে মাহমুদ এবং ‘শাফায়াতে উযমা’ বা সর্বশ্রেষ্ঠ শাফায়াতও উদ্দেশ্য।

2. پس آپ اپنے رب کے لئے نماز پڑھا کریں اور قربانی دیا کریں (یہ ہدیۂ تشکرّ ہے)o

2. पस आप अपने रब के लिए नमाज़ पढ़ा करें और क़ुर्बानी दिया करें (ये हदियए तशक्कुर है) ।

২. অতঃপর আপনি আপনার প্রতিপালকের উদ্দেশ্যে নামায পড়ুন এবং কুরবানী করুন (এটি ‘হাদইয়ায়ে তাশাক্কুর’ বা কৃতজ্ঞতা আদায়ের নিমিত্তে কুরবানী)।

3. بیشک آپ کا دشمن ہی بے نسل اور بے نام و نشاں ہوگاo

3. Indeed, your enemy shall be the one without posterity. (Or: indeed, your enemy shall be the one cut off from all goodness.)
