ﮉﮊﮋﮌﮍﮎ

1. نون (حقیقی معنی اللہ اور رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ہی بہتر جانتے ہیں)، قلم کی قَسم اور اُس (مضمون) کی قَسم جو (فرشتے) لکھتے ہیںo

1. Nun. (Only Allah and the Messenger [blessings and peace be upon him] know the real meaning.) By the pen and by that (subject) which (the angels) write down!

ﮏﮐﮑﮒﮓﮔ

2. (اے حبیبِ مکرّم!) آپ اپنے رب کے فضل سے (ہرگز) دیوانے نہیں ہیںo

2. (O Esteemed Beloved!) By the Grace of your Lord, you are not (at all) insane.

ﮕﮖﮗﮘﮙﮚ

3. اور بے شک آپ کے لئے ایسا اَجر ہے جو کبھی ختم نہ ہوگاo

3. And assuredly, for you there is a reward that will never end.

ﮛﮜﮝﮞﮟ

4. اور بے شک آپ عظیم الشان خلق پر قائم ہیں (یعنی آدابِ قرآنی سے مزّین اور اَخلاقِ اِلٰہیہ سے متّصف ہیں)o

4. And assuredly, you are placed high on the Most Glorious and Exalted (seat of) character (i.e., adorned with the Qur’anic morality and endowed with the character traits of Allah).

ﮠﮡﮢ

5. پس عنقریب آپ (بھی) دیکھ لیں گے اور وہ (بھی) دیکھ لیں گےo

5. Soon you will see and they (too) will see,

ﮣﮤﮥ

6. کہ تم میں سے کون دیوانہ ہےo

6. As to which of you is mad.

ﮦﮧﮨﮩﮪﮫﮬﮭﮮﮯﮰﮱ

7. بے شک آپ کا رب اس شخص کو (بھی) خوب جانتا ہے جو اس کی راہ سے بھٹک گیا ہے، اور وہ ان کو (بھی) خوب جانتا ہے جو ہدایت یافتہ ہیںo

7. Surely, your Lord knows him best who has strayed from the straight path and (also) knows best those who are rightly guided.

ﯓﯔﯕﯖ

8. سو آپ جھٹلانے والوں کی بات نہ مانیںo

8. So do not agree with what the beliers say.

ﯗﯘﯙﯚﯛ

9. وہ تو چاہتے ہیں کہ (دین کے معاملے میں) آپ (بے جا) نرمی اِختیار کر لیں تو وہ بھی نرم پڑ جائیں گےo

9. They wish that you should become (needlessly) flexible (in the matter of the Din [Religion]). Then they too would show flexibility.

ﯜﯝﯞﯟﯠﯡ

10. اور آپ کسی ایسے شخص کی بات نہ مانیں جو بہت قَسمیں کھانے والا اِنتہائی ذلیل ہےo

10. And do not agree with any vile, most mean swearer of oaths,

ﯢﯣﯤﯥ

11. (جو) طعنہ زَن، عیب جُو (ہے اور) لوگوں میں فساد انگیزی کے لئے چغل خوری کرتا پھرتا ہےo

11. (The one who is) a slanderer, fault-finder, mischief-monger, (and) who backbites the people to rouse strife,

ﯦﯧﯨﯩﯪ

12. (جو) بھلائی کے کام سے بہت روکنے والا بخیل، حد سے بڑھنے والا سرکش (اور) سخت گنہگار ہےo

12. (The one who) greatly hinders pious works and is a miser, rebellious transgressor (and) toughened sinner,

ﯫﯬﯭﯮﯯ

13. (جو) بد مزاج درُشت خو ہے، مزید برآں بد اَصل (بھی) ہے٭o

٭ یہ آیات ولید بن مغیرہ کے بارے میں نازل ہوئیں۔ حضرت عبد اﷲ بن عباس رضی اﷲ عنہما فرماتے ہیں کہ جتنے ذِلت آمیز اَلقاب باری تعالیٰ نے اس بدبخت کو دئیے آج تک کلامِ اِلٰہی میں کسی اور کے لئے استعمال نہیں ہوئے۔ وجہ یہ تھی کہ اُس نے حضور نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی شانِ اَقدس میں گستاخی کی، جس پر غضبِ اِلٰہی بھڑک اٹھا۔ ولید نے حضور نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی شان میں گستاخی کا ایک کلمہ بولا تھا، جواباً باری تعالیٰ نے اُس کے دس رذائل بیان کیے اور آخر میں نطفۂ حرام ہونا بھی ظاہر کر دیا، اور اس کی ماں نے بعد ازاں اِس اَمر کی بھی تصدیق کر دی۔ (تفسیر قرطبی، رازی، نسفی وغیرھم)

13. (The one who is) rude, unmannerly, crooked and, moreover, of doubtful birth.*

ﯰﯱﯲﯳﯴﯵ

14. اِس لئے (اس کی بات کو اہمیت نہ دیں) کہ وہ مال دار اور صاحبِ اَولاد ہےo

14. So (do not pay any heed to him) because he is wealthy and has children.

ﯶﯷﯸﯹﯺﯻﯼﯽ

15. جب اس پر ہماری آیتیں تلاوت کی جائیں (تو) کہتا ہے: یہ (تو) پہلے لوگوں کے اَفسانے ہیںo

15. When Our Verses are recited to him, he says: ‘These are the fictitious stories of the bygone people.’

ﭑﭒﭓﭔ

16. اب ہم اس کی سونڈ جیسی ناک پر داغ لگا دیں گےo

16. Now We shall brand him on the snout.

ﭕﭖﭗﭘﭙﭚﭛﭜﭝﭞﭟ

17. بے شک ہم ان (اہلِ مکہ) کی (اُسی طرح) آزمائش کریں گے جس طرح ہم نے (یمن کے) ان باغ والوں کو آزمایا تھا جب انہوں نے قَسم کھائی تھی کہ ہم صبح سویرے یقیناً اس کے پھل توڑ لیں گےo

17. Surely, We will try them (the inhabitants of Mecca in the same way) as We tried (in Yemen) the owners of the garden when they swore that they would surely pluck its fruit the next morning.

ﭠﭡﭢ

18. اور انہوں نے (اِن شاء اللہ کہہ کر یا غریبوں کے حصہ کا) اِستثناء نہ کیاo

18. And they did not make any exception (saying ‘if Allah wills’ or for the share of the orphans).

ﭣﭤﭥﭦﭧﭨﭩﭪ

19. پس آپ کے رب کی جانب سے ایک پھرنے والا (عذاب رات ہی رات میں) اس (باغ) پر پھر گیا اور وہ سوتے ہی رہےo

19. So a whirl (of disaster) from your Lord went round (that garden during the night) whilst they were asleep,

ﭫﭬﭭ

20. سو وہ (لہلہاتا پھلوں سے لدا ہوا باغ) صبح کو کٹی ہوئی کھیتی کی طرح ہوگیاo

20. So, that (waving fruit-laden garden) became a harvested field in the morning.

ﭮﭯﭰ

21. پھر صبح ہوتے ہی وہ ایک دوسرے کو پکارنے لگےo

21. Then as the day dawned, they started calling out one another:

ﭱﭲﭳﭴﭵﭶﭷﭸ

22. کہ اپنی کھیتی پر سویرے سویرے چلے چلو اگر تم پھل توڑنا چاہتے ہوo

22. ‘Leave early for your tilth if you want to pick the fruit.’

ﭹﭺﭻﭼ

23. سو وہ لوگ چل پڑے اور وہ آپس میں چپکے چپکے کہتے جاتے تھےo

23. So they set off whispering to one another:

ﭽﭾﭿﮀﮁﮂﮃ

24. کہ آج اس باغ میں تمہارے پاس ہرگز کوئی محتاج نہ آنے پائےo

24. ‘Do not let any pauper come near you in the garden today.’

ﮄﮅﮆﮇﮈ

25. اور وہ صبح سویرے (پھل کاٹنے اور غریبوں کو اُن کے حصہ سے محروم کرنے کے) منصوبے پر قادِر بنتے ہوئے چل پڑےo

25. And early in the morning they left, (feeling) quite competent to execute their plan (of getting the yield and depriving the poor of their share).

ﮉﮊﮋﮌﮍﮎ

26. پھر جب انہوں نے اس (ویران باغ) کو دیکھا تو کہنے لگے: ہم یقیناً راستہ بھول گئے ہیں (یہ ہمارا باغ نہیں ہے)o

26. Then when they saw that (ruined garden), they said: ‘We must have lost our way; (this is not our garden).’

ﮏﮐﮑﮒ

27. (جب غور سے دیکھا تو پکار اٹھے: نہیں نہیں،) بلکہ ہم تو محروم ہو گئے ہیںo

27. (But when they saw it cautiously, they cried: ‘Oh no!) We have been deprived indeed.’

ﮓﮔﮕﮖﮗﮘﮙﮚ

28. ان کے ایک عدل پسند زِیرک شخص نے کہا: کیا میں نے تم سے نہیں کہا تھا کہ تم (اللہ کا) ذِکر و تسبیح کیوں نہیں کرتےo

28. One of them, wise and inclined to the balanced judgment, said: ‘Did I not say to you: Why do you not glorify and remember Allah?’

ﮛﮜﮝﮞﮟﮠﮡ

29. (تب) وہ کہنے لگے کہ ہمارا رب پاک ہے، بے شک ہم ہی ظالم تھےo

29. (Then) they said: ‘Our Lord is Holy. Surely, it is we who were the wrongdoers.’

ﮢﮣﮤﮥﮦﮧ

30. سو وہ ایک دوسرے کی طرف متوجہ ہو کر باہم ملامت کرنے لگےo

30. So, blaming and maligning, they turned to one another.

ﮨﮩﮪﮫﮬﮭ

31. کہنے لگے: ہائے ہماری شامت! بے شک ہم ہی سرکش و باغی تھےo

31. They said: ‘Woe to us! No doubt it is we who were disobedient and rebellious.

ﮮﮯﮰﮱﯓﯔﯕﯖﯗﯘﯙ

32. امید ہے ہمارا رب ہمیں اس کے بدلہ میں اس سے بہتر دے گا، بے شک ہم اپنے رب کی طرف رجوع کرتے ہیںo

32. We hope that our Lord may give us something better than this in exchange. Verily, we turn to our Lord.’

ﯚﯛﯜﯝﯞﯟﯠﯡﯢﯣﯤ

33. عذاب اسی طرح ہوتا ہے، اور واقعی آخرت کا عذاب (اِس سے) کہیں بڑھ کر ہے، کاش! وہ لوگ جانتے ہوتےo

33. Such is the punishment. And truly, the torment of the Hereafter is far greater (than this). Would that they only knew!

ﯥﯦﯧﯨﯩﯪﯫ

34. بے شک پرہیزگاروں کے لئے ان کے رب کے پاس نعمتوں والے باغات ہیںo

34. Surely, for the Godfearing there are Gardens of Bliss with their Lord.

ﯬﯭﯮﯯ

35. کیا ہم فرمانبرداروں کو مجرموں کی طرح (محروم) کر دیں گےo

35. Shall We (deprive) the obedient like the disobedient?

ﯰﯱﯲﯳﯴ

36. تمہیں کیا ہو گیا ہے، کیا فیصلہ کرتے ہوo

36. What is the matter with you? How do you make a judgment?

ﯵﯶﯷﯸﯹﯺ

37. کیا تمہارے پاس کوئی کتاب ہے جس میں تم (یہ) پڑھتے ہوo

37. Do you have any Book with you in which you read (this),

ﯻﯼﯽﯾﯿﰀ

38. کہ تمہارے لئے اس میں وہ کچھ ہے جو تم پسند کرتے ہوo

38. That it contains all that you like?

ﰁﰂﰃﰄﰅﰆﰇﰈﰉﰊﰋﰌﰍﰎ

39. یا تمہارے لئے ہمارے ذِمّہ کچھ (ایسے) پختہ عہد و پیمان ہیں جو روزِ قیامت تک باقی رہیں (جن کے ذریعے ہم پابند ہوں) کہ تمہارے لئے وہی کچھ ہوگا جس کا تم (اپنے حق میں) فیصلہ کرو گےo

39. Or have you any (such) firm covenants from Us as will subsist till the Day of Resurrection (by means of which We are bound) that you will be provided with whatever you shall decide (for yourselves)?

ﰏﰐﰑﰒﰓ

40. ان سے پوچھئے کہ ان میں سے کون اس (قسم کی بے ہودہ بات) کا ذِمّہ دار ہےo

40. Ask them which of them will vouch for such (a baseless assertion)!

ﰔﰕﰖﰗﰘﰙﰚﰛﰜ

41. یا ان کے کچھ اور شریک (بھی) ہیں؟ تو انہیں چاہئے کہ اپنے شریکوں کو لے آئیں اگر وہ سچے ہیںo

41. Or do they have any partners (as well)? Then they should bring their partners if they are truthful.

ﰝﰞﰟﰠﰡﰢﰣﰤﰥﰦ

42. جس دن ساق (یعنی اَحوالِ قیامت کی ہولناک شدت) سے پردہ اٹھایا جائے گا اور وہ (نافرمان) لوگ سجدہ کے لئے بلائے جائیں گے تو وہ (سجدہ) نہ کر سکیں گےo

42. The Day when the ‘shin’ (i.e., the terrifying fierceness of the Hour of Rising) will be laid bare, and (the disobedient) people will be called to prostrate themselves, but they will not be able to do so (i.e., to prostrate themselves).

ﭑﭒﭓﭔﭕﭖﭗﭘﭙﭚﭛﭜﭝ

43. ان کی آنکھیں (ہیبت اور ندامت کے باعث) جھکی ہوئی ہوں گی (اور) ان پر ذِلت چھا رہی ہوگی، حالانکہ وہ (دنیا میں بھی) سجدہ کے لئے بلائے جاتے تھے جبکہ وہ تندرست تھے (مگر پھر بھی سجدہ کے اِنکاری تھے)o

43. Their eyes will be cast down (with terror and shame) and disgrace will be spreading over them, whereas they were called to prostrate themselves (in the world also) when they were healthy (but they, even then, refused to fall prostrate).

ﭞﭟﭠﭡﭢﭣﭤﭥﭦﭧﭨﭩ

44. پس (اے حبیبِ مکرم!) آپ مجھے اور اس شخص کو جو اس کلام کو جھٹلاتا ہے (اِنتقام کے لئے) چھوڑ دیں، اب ہم انہیں آہستہ آہستہ (تباہی کی طرف) اس طرح لے جائیں گے کہ انہیں معلوم تک نہ ہوگاo

44. So, (O Esteemed Beloved,) leave Me (to exact revenge) from the one who rejects this Revelation. Now We shall take them (towards disaster) so gradually that they will not perceive it.

ﭪﭫﭬﭭﭮﭯﭰ

45. اور میں اُنہیں مہلت دے رہا ہوں، بے شک میری تدبیر بہت مضبوط ہےo

45. And I am giving them respite. Surely, My strategy is unbeatable.

ﭱﭲﭳﭴﭵﭶﭷﭸ

46. کیا آپ ان سے (تبلیغِ رسالت پر) کوئی معاوضہ مانگ رہے ہیں کہ وہ تاوان (کے بوجھ) سے دبے جا رہے ہیںo

46. Do you ask them for any reward (for preaching the faith in Messengership) that they are weighed down with (the burden of) paying the recompense?

ﭹﭺﭻﭼﭽﭾ

47. کیا ان کے پاس علمِ غیب ہے کہ وہ (اس کی بنیاد پر اپنے فیصلے) لکھتے ہیںo

47. Do they have the knowledge of the unseen that they write down (their judgments on the basis of that)?

ﭿﮀﮁﮂﮃﮄﮅﮆﮇﮈﮉﮊ

48. پس آپ اپنے رب کے حکم کے انتظار میں صبر فرمائیے اور مچھلی والے (پیغمبر یونس علیہ السلام) کی طرح (دل گرفتہ) نہ ہوں، جب انہوں نے (اللہ کو) پکارا اس حال میں کہ وہ (اپنی قوم پر) غم و غصہ سے بھرے ہوئے تھےo

48. So be steadfast in waiting for the command of your Lord, and do not (take it to your heart) like (Yunus [Jonah], the Messenger with) fish episode, when he cried out (to Allah) in a state pent up with rage and grief (against his community).

ﮋﮌﮍﮎﮏﮐﮑﮒﮓﮔﮕ

49. اگر ان کے رب کی رحمت و نعمت ان کی دستگیری نہ کرتی تو وہ ضرور چٹیل میدان میں پھینک دئیے جاتے اور وہ ملامت زدہ ہوتے (مگر اللہ نے انہیں ا س سے محفوط رکھا)o

49. Had the mercy and blessing of his Lord not helped him, he would certainly have been thrown in the barren field, blamed. (But Allah saved him from that.)

ﮖﮗﮘﮙﮚﮛ

50. پھر ان کے رب نے انہیں برگزیدہ بنا لیا اور انہیں (اپنے قربِ خاص سے نواز کر) کامل نیکو کاروں میں (شامل) فرما دیاo

50. Then his Lord exalted him and (placed him) amongst the perfectly pious (blessing him with His exceptional nearness).

ﮜﮝﮞﮟﮠﮡﮢﮣﮤﮥﮦﮧﮨ

51. اور بے شک کافر لوگ جب قرآن سنتے ہیں تو ایسے لگتا ہے کہ آپ کو اپنی (حاسدانہ بد) نظروں سے نقصان پہنچانا چاہتے ہیں اور کہتے ہیں کہ یہ تو دیوانہ ہےo

51. And indeed, when the disbelievers listen to the Qur’an, it seems as if they wish to damage you with their (jealously evil) looks and say: ‘He is insane.’

ﮩﮪﮫﮬﮭﮮ

52. اور وہ (قرآن) تو سارے جہانوں کے لئے نصیحت ہےo

52. And it (the Qur’an) is direction and guidance for all the worlds.
